Ugh!
Some of our older generation like a good moan about modern technology. For years I just thought they were being silly, but then the other day, on the train to London, I found myself understanding their viewpoint. I was sitting across from some teenagers who were playing some kind of hand-held games consoles and very much loving every second of it. The whole journey I just sat there internally moaning and shaking my head.
That was when it struck me–I had become an older person to them! I had become part of the older generation! (Backed up by me thinking very often Hmm, London property is so expensive, it’s daylight robbery don’t you know!) This was some shocking news that I hadn’t expected upon waking up. I hadn’t been prepared for that, and it really shook me up. I even had to move seats. Twice, in fact.
Then it came. From every corner of the train came new technology thrust right in my face, right under my old decrepit nose. New technology that was coming to get me, to mock me, to remind me that the days of regular conventional lap-top computers were gone!
I had to sit down and stare at the wall, but in my haste I had done it again. It wasn’t just a wall, oh no. It was a glassy-reflective surface and in it was the face I had been trying to avoid ever since the incident with the games consoles. The face of an older generation technology hating man!
